The number of people who consider themselves “spiritual but not religious” is on the rise: up 10% for ages 30-49; up 9% for ages 18-29 (since 2012). More people are taking a do-it-yourself attitude toward religion, rather than follow a specific path. Only 40% of people claim religion is important in their lives, yet 80% believe in some sort of Higher Power.
Other people follow multiple paths: In fact, 33% say they attend religious services at more than one place, and 24% attend religious services at a faith other than “their own.”
